UberEats VS DoorDash

Posted on Posted in Doordash, UberEats

Not too long ago, getting food delivered to your doorstep was limited to pizza joints and fast food restaurants. If you wanted to order from another kind of restaurant, you would have to call them first and then go and pick up the meal yourself.

People these days are busier than ever; they don't always have the time to prepare a meal at home or take a break during their jam-packed day to go pick up a meal. And not everyone wants to eat pizza or fast food.

Fortunately, there were a few entrepreneurs out there who recognized this need and created businesses that (literally) catered to the people who needed them the most: busy, hungry people and restaurants that didn't offer delivery services.

DoorDash and UberEats are two of the most popular third-party delivery services out there right now.

Their main purpose is to provide convenience. As a busy, hungry person you can order directly online through their easy-to-navigate apps and have food delivered right to you from any restaurant. You don't have to pick up the phone and talk to anyone or leave your house or office!

You are also required to tip the driver and sometimes the delivery is not as fast. The choice of restaurants can also be limited, depending on the city you are living in. But to be fair, delivery services are doing a great amount of good. That is why we decided to take a look at some of the most popular third-party delivery services: DoorDash and UberEats.

DoorDash

DoorDash has an easy to use website.

To order you need to enter your zip code to see the listed restaurants in your area. For instance, if your area code is 33130, downtown Miami, there are over 190 restaurants in the database to select from. You can pick them based on deals of the day or cuisine style.

With DoorDash you can also find delivery services for only 0.99 cents, plus a tip for the driver. Apart from these delivery deals, the DoorDash delivery fee ranges from $2.99-4.99.

One of the big advantages of DoorDash is that they inform you of the estimated waiting time for each restaurant. This is another deciding factor in selecting the restaurant to order from. You pay once you have made your choice of restaurant, and you can tip the driver on your card if you want your delivery to come quicker. Usually, it takes 45-60 minutes to get your delivery.

Pros: DoorDash has an easy to use website. They have a plethora of restaurants to choose from, and the delivery fee is very reasonable.

Cons: Most of their restaurants take 45+ minutes to deliver your order.

UberEats

UberEats is an innovative food delivery service.

They have a wide variety of restaurants in their database from which you can order food, and it will be delivered to you in a matter of minutes.

UberEats works like all other Uber services, too. Getting started is easy and begins with downloading the app from the app store. Then all you have to do is sign up and add your delivery address.

Unlike DoorDash, who feature the restaurant's logos on their website, UberEats showcases various images of their restaurants. For instance, 33130, zip code for Middle Brickell, has over 100 restaurants listed in the UberEats database.

You can search for a specific cuisine or names of the restaurant to make your pick. Before signing out of the app, you will see the price of your order including the booking fee and tax. You don’t need to have cash because all payments are made through the app.

UberEats gives you valuable information such as price range, type of cuisine and estimated delivery time. They also have drivers on standby waiting to deliver orders within 10-20 minutes, the fastest delivery time.

Pros: UberEats has the fastest delivery time, 10-20 minutes and you can track your order on the map till it gets to you.

Cons: They have a standard delivery fee of $4.99, which is slightly high but to be fair they don’t expect you to give a tip to their drivers.

The Verdict

If you are looking for speedy delivery of your order then UberEats wins outright but if you are interested in paying as little as possible, even if you order is delayed then DoorDash is the choice for you.
